At this point, there’s no denying that Damian Lillard still hasn’t reached his peak form with the Milwaukee Bucks. At the same time, however, it’s also true that the eight-time All-Star has been making significant strides in terms of reaching his true potential with his new team.
For his part, Bucks veteran Brook Lopez has no doubt in his mind that Lillard fits in just perfectly with the rest of the squad.
Brook Lopez Speaks on Damian Lillard’s Fit With Milwaukee Bucks
Being one of the more established veterans on the team, Lopez is seen as a leader for the Bucks. His voice holds a lot of weight, which is why it’s great to hear from him just how much he admires Lillard.
According to Lopez, it’s Dame’s determined mindset that puts him on the same wavelength as the rest of the squad:
“I think he’s got the same type of personality as the majority of this team,” Lopez said, via Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian “Obviously, the things he can do makes it easy for him to fit in pretty much anywhere.”
That goes without saying.
Robin Lopez Echoes Twin Brothers’ Sentiments
As they always say, twin brothers usually think alike. This is exactly the case for Robin Lopez in terms of how he too holds Lillard in very high regard.
Robin had a chance to play alongside Lillard with the Portland Trail Blazers for a couple of years and what he’s noticed about Dame’s transition in Milwaukee is how the All-NBA point guard knows his place in the team:
“That can be a tough task, but I think he’s handled it admirably,” Robin Lopez said on Lillard’s adjustment period with the Bucks. “He knows when to say his piece. When he needs to have his voice heard. But at the same time, he’s been really good about being very earnest about what makes this team play well. How he can contribute to that.”
At the end of the day, however, there’s truly just one thing that puts Lillard, Brook, Robin, and the rest of the Bucks on the same page. And that’s winning the title.
“We’re trying to win another championship,” Lopez said. “That’s obviously our one goal. That’s his goal, as well. It’s the one thing he hasn’t done.”
