More than a few fans were shocked, to say the least, after news broke that the Milwaukee Bucks had landed Damian Lillard in a blockbuster trade deal with the Portland Trail Blazers. In fact, even Dame himself may have been taken aback by how quickly things unfolded.
It’s not that Lillard had no clue that a move to Milwaukee was an outright possibility. After all, you could actually say that this has been a long time coming.
Damian Lillard Predicted Move to Milwaukee Bucks
An old Lillard quote has resurfaced now that he’s officially a member of the Bucks. One year ago, Dame was asked who he believed could help him win a championship. His answer? Giannis Antetokounmpo.
“I would say just the dominance,” Lillard said, via GQ Sports on Twitter. “Somebody that’s gonna get to the rim. He’s a good playmaker. Good defender. Disruptive. The way he plays complements the way I play. I would bring something to the table that complements what he does, and vice versa. Seamless.”
“I would pick Giannis"

Now that this sensational team-up has come to fruition, we will all see if Lillard’s championship prediction will also come true.
Giannis Also Needs Help
As much as Lillard wants to win his first championship, it can also be said that Anteotkounmpo is equally hungry for another chip. Giannis has already tasted what it’s like to be at the pinnacle of the sport, and he’s now solely motivated by this objective. The fact that he pretty much forced Milwaukee’s hand into doing a blockbuster trade this summer is a clear testament to this fact.
Well, the Bucks front office delivered. Giannis wanted a superstar teammate, and this is exactly what he gets with Lillard. Dame now finds himself in the best position to win a championship in his whole career. At the same time, though, there’s no denying that Antetokounmpo’s chances of winning another title have increased significantly now that he’s teamed up with Lillard.
