Thursday’s matchup between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Chicago Bulls is not only a chance for the Bucks to take down a Central Division rival. It’s also an opportunity for Milwaukee to get an up-close look at a specific player that has been linked to their squad multiple times this season.
That man is Alex Caruso.
Milwaukee Bucks Linked to Alex Caruso
While it might be Zach LaVine who has been dominating trade rumors of late, the fact of the matter is that Caruso is also going to demand a lot of interest in the trade market if Chicago decides to put him on the block.
For their part, the Bucks upgraded their offense significantly with the addition of Damian Lillard. However, the trade-off was that their defensive efficiency considerably dropped with the departure of Jrue Holiday.
This is exactly why Alex Caruso could be a player they should be looking at ahead of the trade deadline — at least according to Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report:
“Milwaukee has a dire need for perimeter defense. The question is whether it has enough trade chips to get an elite stopper. Caruso would be an ideal addition, but unless there are huge MarJon Beauchamp fans in Chicago’s front office, Milwaukee probably loses that bidding war,” Buckley wrote.
As Buckley points out, however, the Bucks might just not have enough assets to convince Chicago to send Caruso their way — especially considering how there’s expected to be some stiff competition for the combo guard’s signature.
Other Options for Bucks
Given the lack of trade chips at Milwaukee’s disposal, Buckley argues that this team might need to aim lower in terms of filling their defensive void. A couple of players that could be on the target for them are Gary Harris of the Orlando Magic and Alec Burks of the New York Knicks:
