The Chicago Bulls put the Milwaukee Bucks to the test on Monday night. After holding on to the lead for virtually the entire contest, the Bucks allowed Chicago to mount a comeback in the second half to eventually force overtime in what turned out to be a captivating encounter.
In the end, however, it was Milwaukee who scrapped out the W, 133-129.
Brook Lopez Vocal on Milwaukee Bucks’ ‘Resolve’
Brook Lopez once again played a key role in the victory. The veteran logged 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting, to go along with three rebounds, three assists, a steal, and three blocks in 40 minutes of action. The 35-year-old capped off another strong showing with two triples as he flexed his accuracy from long distance against Chicago’s defense.
After the game, Lopez spoke on his team’s ability to withstand the storm against a never-say-die Bulls team. The 7-foot-1 center praised his teammates for taking it to the next level when it mattered the most:
“It was just great to see our resolve.” Lopez said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “I thought whoever was put in the action did a great job of stepping up and taking the challenge. Whoever was out there on the floor. Giannis at one time. Khris. Dame. Our guys were stepping it up and accepting that challenge.”
As Lopez said, it was a total team effort for the Bucks on Monday night. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the way with a team-high 32 points, but at the same time, six other players scored in double figures.
More importantly, the Bucks responded to adversity in the best way possible. The Bulls had a lot of momentum in the fourth quarter and a lesser team could have easily faltered under pressure. Not the Bucks, though.
