Bobby Portis is no superstar, but there’s also no denying that he’s one of the most important players on the Milwaukee Bucks roster. The fact that the Bucks secured his long-term services last summer is a clear testament to how much the organization values what the 28-year-old brings to the table.
Milwaukee Bucks Big Man Bobby Porits Always Has Something to Prove

After signing a couple of short-term deals with the Bucks over the past few years, Portis finally secured a long-term contract last summer. This came out to the tune of $49 million for the next four seasons, which has him locked up through 2026.
Regardless of his current contract situation, however, Portis is not resting on his laurels:
“I mean, yeah, but every year is a prove-it year, man,” Portis said, via Sam Yip of HoopsHype. “Just because you got a deal doesn’t mean you got to stop working and keep building brick by brick. Keep chopping wood and carrying water, that’s the motto. Can’t get complacent, can’t get comfortable in the league.
“There are 40, 50, 60 guys that want to have a guaranteed spot every year on a new team. And there’s gonna be 40, 50, 60 guys that are going to get pushed out. So gotta keep getting better each and every year. Can’t be satisfied with whatever you need to be. Whether it is $20 million, $100 million, $200 million. Gotta keep going. Gotta keep chopping wood and getting better. So with me, all I know how to do is work. Let the dominoes fall where they fall.”
As you may have determined from his inspiring message above, Bobby Portis is a blue-collar type of player who’s just happy to keep his head down and put the work in. He’s no All-Star caliber stud, but this is the type of no-nonsense attitude that makes him such a valuable piece for the Bucks. Oh, and he’s pretty good in basketball, too.
