The Milwaukee Brewers top international signee in January of 2023 was Yophery Rodriguez. He was ranked as MLB Pipeline’s 22nd overall prospect and signed for $1.5 MM. He is starting his professional career by playing in the Dominican Summer League in which the 17 year old left-handed hitting and throwing outfielder is dominating.
Through 37 games played and 129 at-bats Yophery Rodriguez owns a .287/.431/.535 slash line. He has collected six home runs, 10 doubles, two triples, 32 runs batted in, and 11 stolen bases. His 33 walks indicates that he has an advanced eye at the plate, but he is also doing damage when putting the ball in play.
What is the scouting report on top 2023 Milwaukee Brewers international signee Yophery Rodriguez?
MLB Pipeline’s scouting report on Yophery Rodriguez is posted below.
Rodriguez is one of the best pure hitters in the class.
The hit tool is advanced, and he looks mature beyond his years when he steps into the batter’s box. He has a real good feel for the strike zone. From his outstanding makeup and physical projection to his work ethic, it’s easy to see why scouts find Rodriguez an attractive prospect.
His tools are still developing, but that’s normal for prospects his age. What’s uncommon is how well he puts the bat on the ball consistently and with authority. There still room for more power and that could come as he develops and grows physically.
He will start in center field and should stay there as he develops.
Rodriguez trains with former Major League infielder Carlos Guillen. The Brewers have shown interest in him. Guillen is a member of MLB’s Trainer Partnership Program.
