The Milwaukee Brewers farm report continues with covering the next team in their farm system: The High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Milwaukee’s High-A is struggling in the 2023 campaign with just a 29-39 record. Wisconsin is currently in the middle of a series with the Quad Cities River Bandits, the High-A Affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
The Brewers have some exciting players down in High-A with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Who are some of the players in High-A to keep an eye on for the moment or for the rest of the season?
Milwaukee Brewers Farm Report: High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers
Joe Gray Jr. (OF)
Joe Gray Jr. is an outfielder in the Milwaukee Brewers organization, and he is not one of their highly-ranked prospects. In the month of May, they had him play in Double-A with the Biloxi Shuckers for about two weeks, but then they sent him back down. It appears as if Gray Jr. needs more polishing at the age of 23 in High-A, but time might be running out for him to reach the Majors.
He was the 60th overall pick, a second-round selection by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2018 MLB Draft. Gray Jr., in 53 games played so far this season with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, has a .261 batting average with eight home runs and 38 RBIs, along with 10 stolen bases. He also has a .316 on-base percentage.
Robert Moore (2B)
Robert Moore is 21 years old and is ranked as the eighth-best prospect in the Brewers farm system. He is a switch-hitter who throws right-handed. Moore was drafted 72nd overall by Milwaukee in the 2022 MLB Draft. His projection to reach the Majors is 2025. He is 5’9″ and weighs 170 lbs.
Moore can also play shortstop if needed. He has played in 64 games so far this season for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Moore has a .229 batting average with six home runs and 35 RBIs, along with 11 stolen bases and nine caught stealing attempts. His on-base percentage is .323.
Eric Brown Jr. (SS)
Eric Brown Jr. is 22 years old and is the sixth-best prospect in Milwaukee’s farm system. He has a right-handed bat and throws from the right side. Brown Jr. was the 27th-overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. He has a ton of speed on the base paths and could very well be a top-of-the-order hitter for them in the future.
In 465 games for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, Eric Brown Jr. has two home runs and 12 RBIs, along with 24 stolen bases. However, he will never be a power hitter at any of the next level.
Tyler Woessner (P)
Tyler Woessner is 23 years old and was a sixth-round pick (192nd overall pick) in the 2022 MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. He isn’t one of the top prospects in their farm system, but he is one of the rising pitchers within the organization. Woessner has spent his entire season with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in High-A.
Tyler Woessner has pitched in 13 games so far this season. He has thrown in 66.2 innings and has given up 53 hits and 26 runs, along with walking 28 batters and striking out 60 batters. Woessner’s WHIP is 1.22, and he has no complete games or shutouts. This is the pitcher that Milwaukee Brewers fans will keep an eye on throughout the farm system.
