The Milwaukee Brewers came from behind to defeat the Cincinnati Reds on Father’s Day. This victory gave the Brewers their eighth straight series win against their division opponent while also improving their season record to 42-29 and dropping the Reds to 34-37. In this game Colin Rea delivered a quality outing, Willy Adames came through with a clutch three run home run, and the game ended with an out call at home plate that required William Contreras to get looked at by the medical staff.
Colin Rea delivered his fifth quality start of the year for the Milwaukee Brewers.
Despite two throwing errors from Colin Rea in this game he was outstanding on the mound once again. He threw six innings, gave up four hits, one walk, struck out six, and was tagged with two earned runs (three runs overall – one unearned run). His consistency has been very important for the Brewers and this outing marked his fifth quality start of the year.
A Willy Adames three run home run gave the Milwaukee Brewers a late lead against the Cincinnati Reds.
In the sixth inning the Brewers found themselves trailing by a score of 1-3. Reds starting pitcher Frankie Montas was sharp through his first five innings pitched but after the first two Milwaukee Brewers reached in the sixth he was removed and reliever Lucas Sims replaced him. Willy Adames proceeded to send Sims’ first pitch over the wall.

William Contreras had to be looked at by the medical staff after recording the final out at home plate.
Following Adames’ blast the Brewers added an insurance run courtesy of a Christian Yelich bunt single RBI. That additional run ended up being crucial as Reds star Elly De La Cruz homered in the eighth to make it a 5-4 ball game.

In the ninth inning closer Trevor Megill had to work around some traffic on the bases, but ultimately recorded the save thanks to a game ending play at home plate. With two outs and the tying runner (Stuart Fairchild) on second a base hit was recorded to center field. Fairchild was waved around third and slid cleanly into home but his armpit/shoulder region clipped William Contreras near his head. Contreras held onto the ball but he briefly remained down and had to be looked at by the medical staff.
The Brewers have defeated the Reds 5-4 and win the series.
William Contreras took an armpit/shoulder to his head/neck region but after being looked at was up and celebrating with his teammates.

William Contreras was down for a bit after this on the game-ending play (runner was out). Kind of led with his head, unfortunately. pic.twitter.com/Y5C7uvsOgN

Post game manager Pat Murphy indicated that William Contreras is being evaluated for a concussion. If he is unable to go then Gary Sanchez would be the fill in catcher. The only other catcher on the 40-man roster is Jeferson Quero (injured) so they would need to add another catcher if a concussion is confirmed and Contreras needs to go on the injured list.
