Milwaukee Brewers William Contreras was on the wrong end of a game ending strike three call from umpire CB Bucknor during Wednesday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The call was not the reason that the Brew Crew lost the game, but it did kill the rally that the team had mounted off closer David Bednar. Following the game the Brewers catcher gave a brutally honest take on the call.

William Contreras gives a brutally honest take on CB Bucknor’s game ending strike three call during the Milwaukee Brewers and Pittsburgh Pirates game.
After the game a frustrated William Contreras was as straight forward as it gets in regards to his thought on the blown strike three call.
“It was a foot outside. What do you want me to say? I thought it was a bad call.”
Statcast measured the strike three call from CB Bucknor as 1.18 feet from the center of the plate. According to Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel there has only been one other strike call that was wider and the one on Contreras was the only called third strike to end a game with the tying run on base at bat or on deck. In this instance Contreras have every right to be upset over this missed strike call.
