Green Bay Packers coach Matt Lafleur has continued to receive criticism after the team’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings earlier this season, which unfortunately ended with the Packers coming up short 31 to 29. While the losing game was undoubtedly frustrating for the whole team, Matt Lafleur in particular had a notable negative reaction, angrily protesting after the referees opted to not review a play that could have made a huge difference for the Packers if called differently. Lafleur’s ire towards the referees became so intense that he received a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.
After this uncomfortable series of events, it would be understandable if many Green Bay Packers fans were off-put by Matt Lafleur’s behavior. However, an unexpected Tiktok video created by a Packers fan in response to this occurrence shows that not everyone is feeling so negatively about the ordeal.
Tiktok by Green Bay Packers Fan Receives Over 1 Million Views
Tiktok user @thebsknees6, rather than admonishing Matt Lafleur for his angry outburst, instead created what is popularly known as a “fan edit” of the incident. Fan edits are usually a collection of short clips of a famous person or character cut together to music. This fan edit of Matt Lafleur features various clips of him yelling during the Packers and Vikings game:

The video was made in response to other Tiktok user @lavenderhazekristi08’s comment about the Matt Lafleur situation, which reads “I need him to yell at me like that!” The comment makes the intended tone of the video clear, being that these Packers fans find Lafleur’s behavior during this game attractive. This tone is in line with the usual intent of fan edits online, which is to present the person or character of focus as attractively as possible.
Fan edits like the video above can become incredibly popular online, and while they are generally more common among other interests such as TV shows, the success of @thebsknees6’s video demonstrates that fan edits are appreciated in the sport’s community as well. The Tiktok received over 1.6 million views, 111.1 thousand likes and over 2,000 comments.
The comments on this video were overwhelmingly positive, agreeing with the poster that there was something attractive about Lafleur’s outburst, leaving comments like “If someone asks me what my type is…this…this is my type!!” Some commenters even declared that Lafleur’s charm was a primary reason why they were a Packers fan, leaving comments such as “Wisco girl here and I only watch for our coach.” Other Tiktok users, who are not Packers fans, expressed that the video was making them consider supporting the Green Bay Packers: “After such a terrible Browns loss today I am looking for a new team. I think this may be a contender…” Even Minnesota Vikings fans were reacting possessively in the comments, including the following comment: “Dang, I’m happily married and die hard Vikings fan but this was something else.” All in all, it is difficult to find a negative comment on this video amongst all the support.
Final Comments
While the Tiktok was likely made all in good fun, and different fans should be able to choose to enjoy Packers games and content in whatever way they choose, it is also good to keep in mind the negatives of this unsportsmanlike behavior on the part of Lafleur, primarily that the referees involved ended up feeling uncomfortable. And while this Tiktok user and the many other fans who liked and commented might hope to see more of this type of behavior from Lafleur, his comments about being embarrassed by the whole ordeal make it likely that he will try to avoid it in the future.
