Last Sunday, the Green Bay Packers faced off against the Houston Texans. Luckily for Packers fans, Green Bay prevailed with a final score of 22 to 24, leaving both teams at a 5-2 record after the game. Keep reading to get caught up on the most important takeaways from this pivotal, close-call game.
Green Bay Packers Acquire New Kicker
It’s undeniable that the acquisition of kicker Brandon McManus was a central factor to the Packers success in this game. In mid-October, it was revealed that the Packers would be releasing kicker Brayden Narveson as a next move after struggling to replace the successful Mason Crosby for multiple seasons. In Narveson’s place would come former Super Bowl kicker Brandon McManus, who made his debut in Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans.
After a successful career with the Denver Broncos, Packers fans were hopeful that McManus would be a beneficial add to the team, especially after searching for a new kicker for so long. Luckily, Mcmanus proved those hopes to not be in vain when he successfully made a game winning field goal with no time left on the clock. Here’s hoping that Brandon McManus continues to be a game changer for the Packers moving forwards!
Jordan Love Finds His Stride
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has received some criticism after taking over from Aaron Rodgers, especially after the loss to the Minnesota Vikings earlier this season. Much of this criticism has been focused around Love throwing interceptions, which is a habit that did unfortunately come up during Sunday’s game against the Texans, with Love throwing two interceptions in total. Despite these errors, Love was ultimately more successful during the game than Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud, who was consistently swarmed by Packers defense.
Packers fans are especially excited about Love’s teamwork with other players. The following post celebrated Love’s Touchdown pass as “superb,” but also makes sure to praise the catch by Tucker Kraft, as well as the pass protection from Josh Jacobs. Jordan Love making the most of his talented team certainly turned the tides for this important game!
I’m still in awe of the TD catch by Tucker Kraft on Sunday. Yes, the throw by Jordan Love was superb, but it’s so impressive that a 260-pound TE could make that play.
Also, kudos to Josh Jacobs for his pass protection. pic.twitter.com/a7kLabsPGO

Green Bay Defense
While the Packers did a great job keeping on Texan quarterback Stroud, they struggled more when it came to keeping Texan running back Joe Mixon in check. Mixon was able to run a total of 115 yards during the game, with Packers linebacker Eric Wilson conceding that he is “a hell of a back.”
This lack of defense is definitely a factor when considering how close the game ended up being, with it all hanging on that final field goal from Brandon McManus. “It wasn’t perfect” quarterback Jordan Love said regarding the game. “A lot of mistakes. But we found a way to win.” While the Green Bay Packers are known for rallying when things get tough, tightening up on overall defense could mean that the famous Packer Rally need not be relied upon as often.
Packers Fans After Taking Down the Texans
Overall, fans are rejoicing after this win and moral is high moving into the rest of the season. This is great energy to see, especially as the Packers travel to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars next week. Hopefully the Packers continue to improve their defense and rely on their strengths for Week 8 of the season!
