On the Milwaukee Brewers website, or by clicking here, there is a newly updated top 30 prospects list courtesy of MLB Pipeline. This update includes players selected in the 2023 MLB draft and also takes into account how players have performed this season. Let’s take a look at three players who have risen in the rankings and one who has dropped.
Milwaukee Brewers prospect rankings: Three players who have risen, one who has fallen.
Milwaukee Brewers prospect who has risen in the rankings: # 9 OF Luis Lara
18 year old Luis Lara is a name that all Brewers fans should get to know. This contact oriented switch hitter has been playing in Low-A with the Carolina Mudcats all season and has a .287/.383/.360 slash line with a 120 wRC+. His strikeout rate is a low 14.8% and he has also stolen 22 bases this year. He is yet another flourishing international signee from Venezuela in the Brewers farm system.
Milwaukee Brewers prospect who has risen in the rankings: #15 OF Yophery Rodriguez
The Brewers top 2023 international signee, also from Venezuala, is off to a scorching hot start in the Dominican Summer League. Through 43 games he has a .284/.432/.514 slash line. This equates to a .946 OPS in which the left-handed swinger has six home runs and 12 doubles. He also has walked more (39) than he has struck out (28).
Milwaukee Brewers prospect who has risen in the rankings: #24 3B/1B Luke Adams
Luke Adams is a Hinsdale Central, IL product who was selected out of high school in the 12th round a season ago. During his first full season of professional baseball he has looked impressive with massive exit velocities and a great eye at the plate. In Low-A Carolina he has an .887 OPS through 79 games and a 150 wRC+.
Milwaukee Brewers prospect who has fallen in the rankings: #30 LHP Ethan Small
The Brewers first round selection in the 2019 draft has had a rough past two seasons. In 2022 he struggled at Triple-A with command as well as being a member of the starting rotation and eventually switched to a bullpen role. This year he has been predominantly used as a reliever. His walks have improved, but at 26 years old his track record in the upper minor leagues as well as major leagues is causing his prospect value to drop.
