The Milwaukee Brewers organization went through a lot of changes this off-season. Player wise they made MLB history by signing Jackson Chourio to the largest contract ever of a player to not yet make his major league debut, they parted ways with aces Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff, and brought in slugger Rhys Hoskins.
From a business perspective they extended their contract to remain in Milwaukee until 2050. Lastly, they underwent a change in manager when Craig Counsell shockingly signed with the division rival Chicago Cubs. Counsell’s decision to leave should make for some tense situations in future match ups. As luck would have it both teams play in the Cactus League for spring training.
Which MLB teams are all in the Cactus League?
Spring training in baseball is divided into the Cactus League and Grapefruit League. The Cactus League is played in Arizona whereas the Grapefruit League in Florida. Outside of the Brewers the other teams in the Cactus League include the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Guardians, Colorado Rockies, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners and the Texas Rangers.
The Milwaukee Brewers will play against Craig Counsell and the Chicago Cubs three times during spring training.
Brewers fans will get their first look at Craig Counsell in Cubs blue during spring training. The two teams will face off a total of three times with games being played on February 28, March 12, and March 23.
When do the Brewers and Cubs play during the regular season?
In 2024 Major League Baseballs balanced schedule has the Brewers and Cubs playing 13 times. On May 3 the two teams will face off for their first regular season game in which that game will be at Wrigley Field. Craig Counsell’s return to Milwaukee is scheduled for May 27.
