The Milwaukee Brewers have listed Wade Miley as their probable pitcher for Saturdays game on June 17, 2023 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Wade Miley has been out since the middle of May with a posterior serratus strain. He has returned slightly quicker than expected and per the reporting of Adam McCalvy his return will push a veteran pitcher into the bullpen.
Per a report Wade Miley’s return to the starting rotation will push Adrian Houser into the Milwaukee Brewers bullpen.
During spring training it was expected that Brewers pitcher Adrian Houser would serve in a bullpen role this season. Unfortunately a groin injury sidelined him the first month of the regular season and upon returning to the big leagues injuries pushed him into the starting rotation.
Now that Milwaukee is gaining starting pitcher Wade Miley back it is expected that Adrian Houser will transition into the bullpen. Colin Rea was another option to be pushed to the bullpen, but for the time being it will be the 30 year old veteran Houser who operates as a reliever.
Adrian Houser does have experience in the bullpen. He has excelled in that role in the past but injuries have typically pushed him back into a starting role. The Brewers will likely want to keep his arm stretched out so that he is available to make starts should additional injuries arise.
