Milwaukee Brewers 2023 MLB Draft Preview: For the third consecutive year the MLB draft will be held during All-Star break week.  The event spans three days and precedes the All-Star game.

First and second round selections will be made on Sunday, July 9 at 7:00 PM EST.  Day two (rounds 3-10) will start on Monday, July 10 at 2:00 PM EST and the third and final day (round 11-20) Tuesday, July 11 at 2:00 PM EST.

In this year’s 20 round draft the Brewers will select 21 players in total.  Their extra draft pick is a competitive balance pick and will be the 33rd overall selection.  Not every draft selection will elect to sign, but in total Milwaukee’s bonus pool for the draft is just shy of $11 million.

Per David Gasper at Reviewing the Brew, the assigned pick values for each of the Brewers picks in the top 10 rounds are listed below.  Keep in mind these are recommended values and are negotiable.

    Round 10(302): $166,800

2023 MLB Draft Preview: Who might the Milwaukee Brewers select 18th overall?

Milwaukee Brewers News, 2023 MLB Draft,

If the Milwaukee Brewers continue with their recent first round draft strategy they will select an experienced college player 18th overall.  Ethan Small was selected out of Mississippi State in 2019, Garrett Mitchell from UCLA in 2020, Sal Frelick in 2021 from Boston College, and Eric Brown Jr last year from Coastal Carolina.

A few college infielders that could be available include Brayden Taylor, Matt Shaw, Tommy Troy, Jacob Gonzalez, Yohandy Morales, and Brock Wilken.  Outfielders to keep an eye on be Enrique Bradfield Jr and Chase Davis.

The 2023 pitching group is not as deep and projected first rounders that could be available at 18 would be Hurston Waldrep,Thomas White, and Charlee Soto.  Hurston Waldrep is the only college arm of those three. Players such as Paul Skenes, Rhett Lowder, and Chase Dollander will be selected much earlier.

To watch who the Brewers select this year tune in to ESPN or MLB Network.
