Four Milwaukee Brewers pitchers held the New York Mets to just one hit.
Starting pitcher Freddy Peralta was dominant in this game as the only hit allowed all game was a solo home run on a full count to Starling Marte. Aside from that he walked just one batter and tied an Opening Day franchise record with eight strikeouts. In this order Trevor MeGill, Joel Payamps, and Abner Uribe were utilized out of the bullpen to secure the Brewers first win of the 2024 season. Per Sarah Langs the last team to throw a one hitter on Opening Day was the 2016 Seattle Mariners.
Jackson Chourio shined during his MLB debut.
Batting leadoff in this contest was rookie Jackson Chourio. He began his MLB career with a four pitch walk and then a steal of second base. He later collected an opposite field base hit, a run batted in, and made two nice defensive plays in the outfield on a day where the wind was swirling at Citi Field.

Christian Yelich had a three hit performance.
The first Brewers batter to collect a run batted in and home run in 2024 was Christian Yelich when he homered in the fourth inning Prior to that he singled and then later collected a third base knock during his third plate appearance. He finished the day 3-4 overall.
Tension between Rhys Hoskins and Jeff McNeil resulted in the benches clearing.
The Brewers and Mets benches cleared in this game after Jeff McNeil got angered by a slide from Rhys Hoskins at second base. McNeil fumbled an exchange but also did get hit in the leg by a sliding Hoskins. The play was reviewed and determined to be legal.

Saturday’s Brewers and Mets match up will take place at 12:40 PM CT. DL Hall is listed as Milwaukee’s probable pitcher and Luis Severino for New York. The finale of this series will be on Sunday with the first pitched also scheduled for 12:40 PM CT.
