The Milwaukee Brewers have put a big emphasis in recent years on enhancing the fan experience at the ballpark. They have done this through stadium upgrades, improved drink and food selections, an addition of a golfing simulator, and now most recently by revamping their parking structure to a license plate recognition system.
What is a license plate recognition system?
How the Brewers are deploying their license plate system is two fold. Fans will still access to the American Family Field parking lots as they usually would but if a fan prepaid for parking prior to arrival they will need to activate their parking session by typing in their license plate on the MLB Ballpark App. In the setting of paying the day of fans will scan a QR code posted on a sign in the parking lot and enter their license plate and payment information.
Team officials say there will no longer be cashiers to take payments or scan prepaid passes. All fans must purchase a day of parking or activate their pre-paid parking session before entering the ballpark to avoid receiving a parking violation.
What is the Milwaukee Brewers goal with the license plate recognition system?
The goal of this new system is to speed up the parking process. There will be no change to the time that parking lots open or prices.
“We are always considering how to improve the fan experience, and entry into American Family Field’s parking lots is a topic fans often raise. The ease of the new parking system will eliminate the need to stop and pay a cashier, which slowed ingress into the parking lots.”
Brewers president of Business Operations – Rick Schlesinger
When will these changes take effect?
The license plate recognition parking system will be in effect for the entire 2024 season, including the Brewers home opener on April 2 against the Minnesota Twins. No other sports organization in the United States is currently utilizing this parking system.

That’s why the brewers won’t ever win a world series. we get a very good team put together, then Whamo, we start getting rid of the Grade A players. Ridiculous!!!!
