Milwaukee Brewers top prospect Jackson Chourio has had his name floated around with more frequency lately. The 20 year old is extremely talented, has a high ceiling, he’s been playing exceptionally well offensively this spring, but he has struggled at times defensively.
Earlier today manager Pat Murphy told the media that Chourio was “in the mix” for an Opening Day roster spot. He also rated his defense as subpar. Comments like that sound like the skipper could have been hinting at him starting the year in the minor leagues, but instead a report from Curt Hogg at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has indicated the opposite.
Jackson Chourio reportedly will make the Milwaukee Brewers 2024 Opening Day roster.
Curt Hogg indicated in an article that sources informed the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that Chourio will make the Opening Day roster. While anticipated this move was never a lock and GM Matt Arnold indicated as much back in December when he was first signed.
By announcing this decision now it appears that the organization wants him to know that his spot is secure. Perhaps this will lift a weight off of his shoulders and allow the rookie to relax and play more freely leading up to March 28.
