The Milwaukee Brewers organization was hammered with injuries to their pitching staff this past season. Aaron Ashby was laid up before the season began and underwent surgery in early May, Brandon Woodruff made just 11 starts, and in the minor leagues stud prospect Jacob Misiorowski was shut down early.
Following the conclusion of the 2023 season Matt Arnold provided an update on these three players at his end of the year press conference. There was positive news regarding both Aaron Ashby and Jacob Misiorowski, but no real update in regards to the prognosis of Brandon Woodruff’s shoulder.
Milwaukee Brewers GM Matt Arnold provides an update on three injured pitchers.
According to Matt Arnold the last reports that he had heard regarding Aaron Ashby were all positive, in particular to his velocity. He had been on minor league injury rehab assignment at the end of the year, but was struggling to get his velocity up. The phrase Matt Arnold used to describe his progress so far this off-season was “trending in the right direction”.
As for Jacob Misirowski, Matt Arnold said that he has started throwing again. He also indicated that the organization still views him as a potential number one starting in the big league some day. This is encouraging news and hopefully he is able to have a normal off-season to prepare himself for 2024.
Last up is Brandon Woodruff. A second shoulder injury kept him out of the Wild Card Series and he has since received a second opinion. No information regarding that visit is currently available, but the hope is that whatever is going on in his shoulder won’t impact his 2024 campaign. More information should become available in the near future.
