The Milwaukee Brewers have some tough decisions to make in the near future. Four players were previously on injury rehab assignment in Triple-A Nashville, but now that minor league season is complete. Despite having no where to go to continue playing in live games the Brewers have left Garrett Mitchell, Jesse Winker, Darin Ruf, and Aaron Ashby all on the injured list.
There has been a lot of speculation that Garrett Mitchell will return and have a role during the teams post season run, but no roster move has been made yet. Recently he spoke with the media and he shed some light on what he thinks will happen over the rest of the year.
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell sheds light on his availability for the remainder of the year including the post-season.
In an interview before the Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals squared off Garrett Mitchell appeared to be content with whatever Milwaukee decides to do. He also revealed some information regarding one thing he needs clearance for yet and what he thinks will happen from a roster perspective.
“No matter what happens, I’m happy. I’m happy to be healthy again, and just to be here and be with the team.”
In regards to being healthy he divulged that he has not received clearance to perform one baseball activity yet. That is headfirst slides. Throughout his injury rehab stint he was instructed to avoid them and he now has one more visit with a doctor to determine if he can be cleared to do them.
As for what Garrett Mitchell thinks will happen he said that he is optimistic about being on the postseason roster, but is not sure if he will be active for the remaining regular season schedule. This would mean that he would remain on the IL, but continue to get at-bats during live BP sessions.
It will be interesting to see what the Brewers end up deciding to do with Garrett Mitchell. Within one weeks time we will have an answer, but hopefully we have more information sooner.
