The Milwaukee Brewers lost rookie outfielder Garrett Mitchell to a shoulder injury during the middle of April. He ended up undergoing surgery, spending several months rehabbing, and gaining doctors clearance to play in live games a few weeks ago. Now that the Triple-A regular season is complete he is expected to return to the big leagues as early as Tuesday, September 26.

Garrett Mitchell is expected to return to the Milwaukee Brewers big league roster (report).
Adam McCalvy, a beat reporter for the Milwaukee Brewers, relayed through social media that Garrett Mitchell could return to the big leagues on Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals. He indicated that while the Brewers have not confirmed this they also have not provided any information to suggest that it won’t happen.
The Brewers haven’t confirmed any plans yet, but we haven’t heard anything to suggest we won’t see Garrett Mitchell in Milwaukee tomorrow.
In eight games with Triple-A Nashville, Mitchell slashed .188/.257/.250 with a triple and three steals. Four hits in his final 10 ABs.

All signs are currently pointing towards Garrett Mitchell returning to the Brewers, but the big question is what role will he have?
Sal Frelick has been an on-base machine, Mark Canha has been a great run producer, Christian Yelich recently returned from a back injury, Tyrone Taylor has been on a tear in September, and switch hitting Blake Perkins is a versatile player and an elite defender. This could mean that if Garrett Mitchell returns his role could be limited to a pinch runner, pinch hitter, or defensive replacement.
