The Milwaukee Brewers have seen a lot of St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright throughout his 18 year career. Poetically he ended up earning his 200th career win against Milwaukee and he looked like his vintage self in the process by putting together his longest start of the year in seven shutout innings.
Prior to Adam Wainwright dominating the Brewers and reaching the 200 win mark manager Craig Counsell shared his high praises for the 42 year old veteran.
Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell has high praise for St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright.
During a pre game interview with Bally Sports here is what Craig Counsell had to say about Adam Wainwright’s career and chasing 200 careers wins.
“I mean this is kind of an interesting night. You just have so much history with a player and you have seen him do so many things, unfortunately against yeah, you know he beats you so many times. So what does a night like tonight bring? It’s kind of interesting from that perspective, but he’s been one of the best pitchers in this generation and there’s no question about it. I’ll always admire how he pitches and what he has accomplished.”
Despite the Brewers and Cardinals having six more match ups this regular season, Adam Wainwright’s start on Monday against Milwaukee may have been last against them. If that is the case he will finish his career with a 2.68 ERA against Milwaukee in 322 innings pitched.
