The Milwaukee Brewers have lost the first two out of three games to the Los Angeles Dodgers and are currently on a season-worst three game losing streak. They have blown leads in each game against the Dodgers and Christian Yelich was involved in a game altering play on Saturday night. Post-game he explained what happened and why he should have made the play.
Milwaukee Brewers bullpen surrenders a pair of home runs late against the Los Angeles Dodgers in eventual 5-3 loss.

Baseball is a game that changes fast. In the top of the eighth inning Christian Yelich belted a game tying home run off Dodgers closer Evan Phillips. With the score tied at three the Brewers turned to reliever Bryan Hudson in the bottom half of the inning. Unfortunately the first batter that Hudson saw was pinch hitter Miguel Vargas and he hit a go-ahead home run. Shohei Ohtani then added an insurance run with a solo home run of his own.
Christian Yelich had an opportunity to make a play on the home run that Miguel Vargas hit.

The home run that Miguel Vargas hit registered a total distance traveled of 368 feet. Watching the play live it looked like Christian Yelich was going to catch the ball on the warning track. Unfortunately his glove hit the padding of the wall on his way up and the ball bounced out for a home run. Per Adam McCalvy’s post-game notes afterwards Yelich acknowledged that he should have just jumped.
Christian Yelich: “It sucks. I’ve got to make that play. I thought I was camped under it. … I went to reach up to catch it and didn’t think I had to jump. I caught my glove on the ledge on the wall and got blocked. I should have just jumped.” pic.twitter.com/6mQJsJnZE6

Milwaukee Brewers reliever Bryan Hudson has not had a good homecoming to Dodger Stadium.

Bryan Hudson, a potential All-Star reliever this year, was acquired by the Brewers from the Dodgers this off-season as Hudson was the odd man out after Los Angeles signed pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. In his first two games back to Dodgers stadium he has struggled. On Friday night he gave up a game-tying home run and on Saturday night he was responsible for giving up a go-ahead home run and then an insurance home run as well.
The Brewers and Dodgers series will conclude on Sunday. Milwaukee has not lost four games in a row this season, so they will be looking to avoid this before traveling home to take on the Pittsburgh Pirates.
