Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich has been in the big leagues since 2013 and last year he achieved 10 years of MLB service time. Throughout his career he has won two batting titles, one gold glove award, and one MVP award. He is at a point in his career where statistically the numbers are starting to add up and in 2024 he could find himself in elite company as a result.
Milwaukee Brewers: Christian Yelich could join the 200/200 club in 2024.
Entering the 2024 season Christian Yelich currently has 193 career home runs and 184 stolen bases. 134 of his long balls and 112 of his stolen bases have come as a member of the Brewers. This leaves 59 home runs accounted for during five years with the Miami Marlins and 72 stolen bases.
A season ago Yelich had a resurgent year in which for the first time since 2020 he had a slugging percentage over .400 (.447), an OPS over .800 (.818), and he nearly stole 30 bases (28). His 19 home runs were also nice to see, but there is still room for improvement in this category for he has not eclipsed 20 since 2019 when he belted 44 baseballs over the outfield wall.
His bounce back season is encouraging for his chances of reaching the 200/200 milestone because hitting seven home runs and 16 stolen bases could occur by the All-Star break. Should he accomplish this he could become just the fifth active player to have 200 home runs and 200 stolen bases. The current players in this club include Mike Trout, Jose Altuve, Andrew McCutchen, and Jose Ramirez.
Hopefully Christian Yelich is able to join the 200/200 club in 2024. Opening day will be here soon and is less than 90 days away. Once the season gets going be mindful of Yelich’s home runs and stolen bases so that you can keep track of how close he is getting to reaching this career milestone.
