The Milwaukee Brewers have had lots of great players come through their organization. Throughout their 50+ years of existence they have had 70 players earn All-Star honors with 23 of them being selected on more than one occasion. Recently they also had one of their former All-Stars be hired by Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) as a special assistant to executive director Tony Clark.
Former Milwaukee Brewers All-Star Carlos Gomez has been hired as a MLBPA Special Assistant.
Per Tenchy Rodriguez of Z101 Carlos Gomez has been hired by MLBPA. Part of his new role presumably will involve him working with the union. Disputes between MLBPA and MLB have been a story line the past few years and the new collective bargaining agreement eventually saw younger players get increased pay, bonus pay for pre-arbitration players, and measures were taken to decease service time manipulation.
How did Carlos Gomez perform throughout his MLB career?
Carlos Gomez played in the big leagues from 2007-2019. A 13 year tenure resulted in 12 years of MLB service time in which he played for the New York Mets, Brewers, Houston Astros, Texas Rangers, and Tampa Bay Rays. He finished his career with a 24.4 WAR and went to the All-Star game in back-to-back season with Milwaukee in 2013 and 2014.
