Earlier this year Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Aaron Ashby underwent shoulder surgery to address his labrum. At the time of surgery there was no guarantee that he would pitch in the big leagues this season. The Brewers have now recently provided a positive update on his progress that indicates he could pitch for them during the 2023 season.
Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Aaron Ashby is on track to pitch in the big leagues in 2023 after undergoing shoulder surgery.
After rehabbing in Arizona, Aaron Ashby returned to Milwaukee this week for a check-in. Upon coming back to Wisconsin he revealed that he has been throwing bullpens and currently is worked up to 30 pitches. The plan for him is to build him up as a reliever and at best he could be back with the Brewers by the end of August or early September.
When asked about his recovery he did indicate that things were trending in a positive direction and that he would be heading back to Arizona next week to continue with his rehab.
Everything feels good, getting better every day.
We are building up to this pitch mark but it’s based on how i feel. So as soon as it starts feeling good and I get that velo back and I get my pitches back then that’ll be like we are ready to go into a game. Still a little bit away from that, but it’s heading in that direction.
Hopefully Aaron Ashby is able to recover in the time frame mentioned and join the Brewers bullpen this year. He would be a valuable left-handed asset for Craig Counsell to utilize.
