NFL legend Michael Irvin talked with Colin Cowherd this morning on The Herd. Cowherd was making the point that Jordan Love should already be showing more results seeing as he has been sitting behind Aaron Rodgers for three years. Irvin shut down this argument and passionately defended the Green Bay quarterback.
“I’ve seen enough in Jordan Love already. Green Bay has their quarterback.”

Michael Irvin Passionately Defends Jordan Love
If you are a Green Bay Packers fan, watch the whole video above. Cowherd asked if he was being unreasonable in his take that Love has until Thanksgiving to really produce. Irvin said yes and then launched into a defense of Love. “I’ve seen enough in Jordan Love already. Green Bay has their quarterback,” Irvin said. He has seen the flashes of greatness that give him the confidence that Green Bay will keep Love. The losses, in his mind, don’t seem as bad then. The losses will help the team in the future because Love will actually be a part of it. There was another quote from the interview that is essential to understanding Love’s first year as a starter.
Success Vs. Growth
“You’re saying let me see some early success. I’m looking at early growth,” Irvin said at the end of the segment. Cowherd is falling into the trap that so many people are when talking about Love. Rodgers and Brett Favre are the standard and everyone wants Love to be that right now. While this would be amazing, it is more likely that he needs a year or two to grow. Irvin has seen the early season growth which is why he is so bullish on the Green Bay quarterback. There is no doubt that Love has already shown some good things in the first four weeks. There is definitely a lot to work on but the foundation is there.
Michael Irvin is convinced of Jordan Love. The Packers have an easy schedule for the rest of the season and this should help development. If Green Bay has found their quarterback of the future, the rest of the league should be put on notice.
