The Miami Dolphins had something happen at training camp on Thursday that they didn’t want to see. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey was carted off the field into the locker room, and the trainers were attending to his left knee, per NFL media.
Miami Dolphins Cornerback Jalen Ramsey Carted Off the Field
This came after he was defending wide receiver Tyreek Hill in practice. Jalen Ramsey hobbled onto the cart for the Miami Dolphins, and we will see what happens with his official diagnosis. Hopefully, it is not a torn ACL or any other serious injury.
Jalen Ramsey was acquired in a trade from the Los Angeles Rams during the offseason. This move was made because they hope they can get over the top this season in a loaded AFC Conference. If Ramsey is expected to miss any significant time, this will be a big blow for this football team. A pairing of him and Xavien Howard would be dynamic for the secondary.
Last season with the Los Angeles Rams, Jalen Ramsey played in all 17 games and had four interceptions, 18 pass deflections, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, two sacks, and 88 combined tackles.
He is only 28 years old and has a few years remaining on his contract. Jalen Ramsey will be getting $10 million this season. If Ramsey is out for a lengthy period of time for the Miami Dolphins, what does this mean for them moving forward?
Miami Dolphins are a Fringe Playoff Team
There was a reason why they traded for Jalen Ramsey in the first place. Miami has to deal with Aaron Rodgers from the New York Jets and Josh Allen from the Buffalo Bills. The AFC is a quarterback gauntlet, and some people believe that Miami’s defense under Vic Fangio will improve.
Ramsey is viewed as a top-tier cornerback in the NFL. The Miami Dolphins were a fringe playoff team last season and were the seventh seed in the AFC. Mike McDaniel enters his second as head coach of this football team. Miami is looking to improve that ranking this season after going 9-8 last season. With Jalen Ramsey, they can win the tough AFC East. If he is out, then they could maybe be a playoff team or miss the playoffs entirely.
