Green Bay Packers fans are not missing Mason Crosby as much as they thought they would going into the 2023 NFL season. While rookie kicker Anders Carlson had a rocky preseason and missed a field goal try on Sunday, he has been otherwise dependable, making 8/9 field goal attempts and all of his extra point attempts. He has already made two 50+ yard field goals on the season, surpassing Crosby’s total from last season.
After the Packers made the decision to move on from Crosby, he went unsigned and remains a free agent. It was reported on Wednesday morning, however, that he was invited to workout for the Los Angeles Rams after their released kicker Brett Maher. Despite the fact that Crosby has been one of the more reliable kickers in the NFL over the last few seasons, there is one player that Rams fans seem to prefer.
Los Angeles Rams Fans Would Rather Have Robbie Gould Over Mason Crosby
Another veteran free agent kicker, Robbie Gould, was not brought back by the San Francisco 49ers after they decided to draft Jake Moody in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Along with Crosby, Gould remains a free agent and was not signed by any teams going into the season.
It is Gould who Rams fans would seem to prefer:
This ain’t Robbie Gould. Quit penny pinching and spend on what we all know is a crucial position https://t.co/GjiM0t0WQC

Like @LARams520 just said, go get Robbie Gould. I’m done with these “project” kickers.

Robbie Gould, you will be getting a phone call from Les Snead at any moment. pic.twitter.com/PZbvhR49qf

Robbie Gould is still available, AND we have the money. No brainer move that the Rams should get done ASAP.

Watch the Rams go grab Robbie Gould before the 49ers do and he ends up drilling a game winner in his old stadium last game of the year to send the rams to the playoffs in a wild card spot. 🔮 https://t.co/qkUEhKo6YC

Even former Packers quarterback Kurt Benkert is on the Robbie Gould train.
In any case, the Rams are in desperate need of a good kicker, and both Crosby and Gould are good options. While Los Angeles may not be a contender this year, no contender is looking for kickers.
The opportunity to play, even for the Rams, would keep either one of them in the NFL and open the door for other opportunities next season, should they choose to pursue them.
