One of the biggest celebrity fans of the Green Bay Packers is Lil Wayne. This season he led the team out of the tunnel for their Thursday night game against the Lions. The rapper talked with Jimmy Fallon about his love for the Packers.
Lil Wayne Talks His Love For The Green Bay Packers
“You’re from New Orleans and you just enjoy the Green Bay Packers?” Fallon asked. “I love ‘em,” Lil Wayne corrected him. Green Bay usually isn’t a city that attracts many celebrity fans but the rapper credits his dad for his fandom. His dad was in attendance at Super Bowl XXXI when the Packers defeated the New England Patriots. His dad brought home a lot of memorabilia and it seems to still get some use today.
“In the hood, that’s not stuff you like throw away, you actually use that every day. So every day I’m using a Green Bay champs cup, I’m showering with a Green Bay towel, I’m a Green Bay fan.”
He is all in on the team and passionately talks about it. The interview shows that this isn’t a casual liking but a real fandom which is cool to see.
Not The Only Famous Face Cheering For The Team
Green Bay has started to attract some famous faces as of late. When the team signed Jonathan Owens, his wife Simone Biles made an appearance at a preseason game in Cincinnati. The Office star Brian Baumgartner has made regular appearances on NFL Network to talk about the Packers. Marvel Cinematic Universe actor Mark Ruffalo, being a Kenosha native, cheers for the green and gold and James Van Der Beek called Packers fans the “greatest fan bases in all of sports” in an interview with Rich Eisen. Being a small market franchise, it draws a lot of interest from celebrities.
Lil Wayne is probably the most vocal about his Green Bay Packers fandom. It was cool to hear him talk about it with Jimmy Fallon.
