Fran McCaffery Roasted on Socials After Meltdown vs. Wisconsin

The Wisconsin Badgers were able to grit out a tough victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes in overtime on Sunday night. It was not a very easy game, as both teams played physical, Big-Ten style basketball. Besides the win, the highlight for Wisconsin fans was Iowa coach Fran McCaffery getting called for a technical and then having a childish reaction to it.

After the refs called Fran McCaffery for a technical in the Wicconsin-Iowa game, he just stared angrily at the officials with a cartoonish frown on his face. Badgers fans and writers who cover college basketball were relentless on Twitter:

Wisconsin-Iowa Recap

There was still a game to be played, despite the Fran McCaffery meltdown. The Wisconsin Badgers were down early, took a late lead, blew it with a minute left, and consequently pulled out a classic Badgers-esque victory on the road in Iowa. The Badgers are now 8-2 on the season. Their only losses have come to Kansas and Wake Forest. Both losses were by a combined four points.

Wisconsin was led by Tyler Wahl, who had 21 points and seven rebounds. Freshman sharpshooter Connor Essegian had 14 points off the bench of the Badgers. Steven Crowl had 12 points, six rebounds, and seven assists for the Badgers. Chucky Hepburn also reached double-figures, scoring 11 points on 4-12 shooting.

It was an overall great night for Wicosnins vs. Iowa. The addition of the Fran McCaffery meltdown was certainly the icing on top.
