The Green Bay Packers are 2-5 and coming off another brutal loss. This time it came at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings inside Lambeau Field. Youth, inexperience, and injuries have all played a role in the Packers’ slow start to the season (some fans may say coaching is even more to blame).
Nonetheless, the Packers have seemingly faced an uphill battle all off-season so when a glimmer of good news occurs, it is big. In the Packers’ loss to the Vikings they suffered a few injuries, however, one of them should not have any long-term impacts.
Green Bay Packers Expect To Have Tackle Yosh Nijman As An Option Going Forward
According to Ryan Wood of USA Today:
Yosh Nijman said he landed awkwardly in field goal block, which led to his foot injury. He was able to stay in game until meeting his pain threshold. Doesn’t expect it to be an issue Sunday. The question is whether #Packers start him at LT or stay with Rasheed Walker.
While Rasheed Walker played well in the preseason and moved ahead of Nijman on the depth chart, he has struggled since stepping into David Bakhtiari’s starting lineup.
For a former seventh-round pick in his first NFL game, that’s nothing out of the ordinary, but the offensive line’s pressure is making Jordan Love’s life challenging.
According to some previous comments by offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich, Nijman’s playing time may be in trouble. However, it may be necessary to shake up the offensive line in order to buy Love a little more time, even if it means depriving Walker of the opportunity to develop faster.
