The Green Bay Packers have gotten off to a 2-2 start through the first quarter of the season. Those two wins came in dominant (over the Bears) and dramatic (over the Saints) fashion. However, the two losses were brutal to watch. The Packers’ fourth-quarter collapse against the Atlanta Falcons was hard to watch. The Packers getting blown out by the Detroit Lions at home was even harder to watch.
At times the Packers’ offensive struggles loomed large. Earlier in the season there were reports that the Packers were one of the few teams interested in trading for star running back Jonathan Taylor. That possibility hasn’t gone away.
Green Bay Packers Potential Trade For Jonathan Taylor Could Actually Happen

Because the Packers have already been connected to this potential blockbuster trade, I think it makes sense to continue connecting them. No matter what gets reported…
Yes, trading for Jonathan Taylor is likely to cost more draft capital than you’d ideally give up for a running back, but the Packers could potentially drive the price down at least a little bit if they include someone like AJ Dillon in this trade with the Colts.
That would give the Colts a player on an expiring deal at a position they need someone to shoulder some of the load, and it would allow the Packers to perhaps just give the Colts a second-round pick instead of multiple picks.
Ultimately, the potential of having Aaron Jones and Jonathan Taylor together in this Green Bay backfield sets up Jordan Love for a ton of success. Those are two guys you can really lean on in the running game as well as in the passing game.
Green Bay Packers’ rushing offense has been among the worst in the NFL through four weeks of the 2023 season. The Packers’ Week One win over the Chicago Bears saw Aaron Jones suffer a hamstring injury early in the fourth quarter. He hasn’t played meaningful time since Week One. As a result of Jones’ absence, AJ Dillon has been unable to put up impressive numbers on the ground.
What Is the Update?
There are some trades this team could make to really put their roster in a great position. Among the obvious trade rumors that have circulated around in the last month or so is one that would bring Jonathan Taylor back to the state of Wisconsin. This would potentially give the Packers the best running back duo in the NFL with Taylor and Jones.
Even with recent reports stating the Packers were “out of the mix” for the star running back, the Colts have made it known they have lowered their expected return for Taylor. A high second round draft pick could even do the trick. The Packers will have two second-round picks in 2024. Using one to get a 24-year-old star running back would be huge.

“We offer AJ Dillon and a second round pick”
*Indy farts on the phone and hangs up*
I live in Indy, lot of rumors and speculations. Taylor isn’t going anywhere this year. He’s at practice today full participation and said happy to be here with the team.
