For Green Bay Packers Fans, it’s time. Enough is enough! The Green Bay Packers are a good defense away from being potential playoff contenders, and were their present defense away from nearly being eliminated from the playoff picture altogether.
Against a Carolina Panthers team that is so incredibly structurally limited, where there is zero glimmer of hope for the next decade to come, the Green Bay Packers were in many ways very fortunate to come away with a win.
Green Bay Packers Defense Won’t Change No Matter How Much You Ask
It’s very easy to blame Joe Barry in this situation. And yes, he does own a huge majority of the casted of the blame. But one important factor is prevalent that surrounds this Green Bay Packers team on both sides of the ball.
There are times they play well (yes even the defense) but there are also times where they play with an aura of relatively unearned arrogance. Most agree that this team has potential, and there are encouraging signs from their players, but the lack of a veteran presence is showing up on this team.
Games are never won on paper. And wins must be earned everyday in how you practice, and how you approach every down. Especially when the Green Bay Packers had a sizable lead, you could feel them let up, and shift into a state of cruise control, that allowed for the Carolina Panthers to threaten the win at the end.
Green Bay Packers Defensive Struggles Really Have No End In Sight
Where do you want to begin with this Green Bay Packers defense? It seems every quarterback that they com up against is primed to have a career best day. The defense really doesn’t make adjustments, and manages to get burned by the same looks week to week, and throughout the game.
For a team that has ranked consistently at the bottom of all offensive categories, the Carolina Panthers will receive a generous stat average boost having faced the Green Bay Packers defense.
According to Coach Joe Barry, it’s either misalignment, miscommunication, or something to that affect. But in reality this defense is feast or famine. When they get to the quarterback, or get an interior push on the line of scrimmage the defense looks great. If the opposing pass protection is able to hold up, plays can be made on this Green Bay Packers defense.
If you run down the list, a horrific Carolina Panthers team out dueled this team in a lot if important categories. And despite having a comfortable lead, the prevent philosophy very nearly allowed for the upset.
Being out gained, having more yards per play allowed against, and facing a slightly higher time of possession, the only defensive aspect that the Green Bay defense was better at was against the run. While part of that has to due to the Carolina Panthers chasing the game, they still only allowed 3.8 yards per rushing attempt.
But other than that, this defense is too easy for opposing quarterbacks to make plays against. Despite how easy the future matchups are perceived to be, with this defense and how they’re playing, you can expect every remaining game to come down to the wire.
