The Green Bay Packers are riding high after their 17-9 victory over the Chicago Bears. The 2023 Packers were able to do what the 2022 Packers could, win a “win or go home” game in the regular season finale. Jordan Love had an incredible outing against Chicago, finishing with 316 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and an 84.4 completion percentage.
Jayden Reed was the leading receiver as he finished with four receptions for 112 yards. Today it was announced that the Packers decided to bring in a 26-year-old wide receiver to possibly boost the group even more.
The Green Bay Packers Work Out 26-Year-Old Wide Receiver Samuel Emilus Amid Playoff Push
According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky:
The Packers are working out three CFL players:
- WR Samuel Emilus (Louisiana Tech)
- DB Carthell Flowers-Lloyd (Stony Brook)
- DB Kenneth George (Tennessee)
In the CFL last season, Emilus was one of 11 receivers to record more than 1,000 yards. In 18 games, he caught 70 passes for 1,097 yards and six touchdowns. In the 2022 CFL Draft, he was selected by the Roughriders in the first round.
Emilus played three seasons at the University of Massachusetts (2018-20) before transferring to Louisiana Tech. for the 2021 campaign. Emilus stands 6’1″, weighs 194 pounds, and ran the 40-yard-dash in 4.52 seconds.
Currently, the wide receiver is under contract with the Roughriders through 2024.
