The Green Bay Packers (2-5) are heading into Week Nine with playoff expectations continually decreasing. After starting the season 2-1, the Packers have lost four in a row and are struggling mightily on offense. The defense, however, has had their ups and downs. While they are currently allowed 22.3 points per game (20th in the NFL), they have had four games in which they held their opponents to 20 points or less.
Today, the Packers decided to move on from one of their leaders on defense. To say it shocked some Packers fans is an understatement.
Green Bay Packers Deal Cornerback Rasul Douglas To The Buffalo Bills
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Packers have traded Douglas and a fifth-round pick to the Bills for a third-round pick.
Douglas, 28, was originally drafted by the Eagles in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He then spent time with the Panthers, Raiders, Texans and Cardinals. Douglas has started all seven games this season for Green Bay. This trade likely confrims that Green Bay is in a rebuilding mode. They likely won’t make the playoffs this year, and keeping a veteran would be more expensive than acquiring a higher draft pick.
Robin Adams of Wisconsin Sports Heroics broke down what this means for the draft next year:
Going into the offseason, Green Bay now has a plethora of early draft picks. In addition to their first and second round picks, they also will have the New York Jets’ second round pick. In addition to their own third round pick, they will now have Buffalo’s too. That will give them five picks in the top 90 draft choices.
Perfect for a rebuilding team, and perhaps enough to move up for another first round pick, should they choose to do so.
Green Bay Packers Fans React To Trading Away Rasul Douglas

What is wrong with Green Bay? Trading one of the only consistent performers this year so BG can draft another guy that won’t be on the roster in 3 years, this team is already young we need good players, not mid round picks..
