The Green Bay Packers will certainly be looking to add to their weapons on offense this season. Their core nucleus of Aaron Jones, AJ Dillon, Christian Watson, and Romeo Doubs already gives future starting quarterback Jordan Love plenty to work with. With that being said, however, the Green Bay Packers have made it clear they plan on adding some weapons this off-season. Matt LaFleur has said the team is interested in adding a veteran wide receiver. The tight end position is another position the Green Bay Packers will certainly be looking to add to, and one is projected to land with the Packers.
Green Bay Packers Projected To Add Tight End Dalton Kincaid In 2023 NFL Draft
According to a report:
Allen Lazard and Robert Tonyan both departed in free agency and Randall Cobb remains a free agent. That puts a ton of pressure on Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs to step up in year 2 at the wide receiver position. At least they have those two to build around there as the tight end position is barren.
Josiah Deguara is currently atop the depth chart at tight end with Marcedes Lewis also being a free agent. That is something that needs to change sooner or later. In the recent mock draft of Will Brinson from CBS Sports, that is exactly what the Packers do.
Brinson has Green Bay using the No. 15 overall pick on tight end Dalton Kincaid out of Utah. Kincaid is right in the mix as the top-rated tight end in this year’s draft class and would provide an immediate boost to the Packers’ passing game.
While Kincaid is not a very good run blocker currently, he will find immediate success as a pass catcher. His route running is excellent and he can create mismatches with his combination of size, speed and athleticism.
At the very least, the Packers would be getting a player that will elevate their aerial attack with his pass-catching ability. He is a contested catch maestro with elite ball skills. If Kincaid can continue improving as a blocker, he will become an excellent three-down player at the next level.
Kincaid had extremely successful years in 2021 and 2022. During those two years he recorded 106 receptions, 1,400 receiving yards, and 16 touchdowns. An effective pass catching tight end would be something the Green Bay Packers haven’t had consistently for years.
