The Green Bay Packers have had their “biggest game of the season” every week since their loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That is no different as they prepare for their regular season finale against the Chicago Bears. The stakes are simple, if the Packers win they are in the playoffs. The Bears would love nothing more than to play spoiler to their biggest rival in the league.
Today at practice, the Packers had some not-so-good news to report as they continue their preparations for the biggest game of the year to date.
The Green Bay Packers Announce Some Devastating News At Practice Ahead Of Their Matchup Against The Chicago Bears
According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic:
Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks are all practicing. Jaire Alexander is back from suspension and practicing.
Josh Myers is practicing after getting injured Sunday. Preston Smith, Isaiah McDuffie, Elgton Jenkins and Rudy Ford not out here.
In Sunday’s 33-10 win over the Vikings, Smith had one sack and a forced fumble.
During the second quarter, Smith stripped Jaren Hall, causing a fumble that was recovered by Karl Brooks. That fumble led to Jordan Love’s 25-yard touchdown pass to Jayden Reed three plays later. This season, Smith has 8.0 sacks, 0.5 short of his 2022 total, and is second on the team in that category behind Rashan Gary.
It would be a significant loss to the Packers’ defense if he is unable to go on Sunday against Chicago. Justin Fields has proven once again that he has a unique ability to get out of pressure. Having a veteran like Preston Smith out there may be able to thwart some of those attempts.
