The Green Bay Packers offense has struggled mightily the last four weeks. After the first two weeks had some promise, the offense has fallen flat in four straight games, especially in the first half. With today’s offensive output, the Packers reached a grim milestone that has not been seen in the franchise since 2005.
Green Bay Packers Offense Scores Under 20 Points…Again
It has now been four straight games where the Packers have scored under 20 points. This is the longest streak since 2005 when the team went six straight games en route to a 4-12 record that season. Not the news that Packers fans wanted as the team currently sits at 2-5. What is more concerning is the last two games have been against subpar defenses in the Raiders and Broncos. The 2005 season is not one that the team should be looking to emulate.
The Silver Lining
While the 2005 and 2023 teams are in completely different spots, it is worth noting that the team went 8-8 in 2006 and drafted AJ Hawk, Greg Jennings, and Tramon Williams. The team didn’t spend a decade in the basement of the league and was able to rebound. For this year, if the Packers can score something in the first half, the offense would easily clear 20 points. One of the strangest stats that the broadcast showed was that the Packers have the top-scoring offense in the second half. If they can simply not get shut out, the offensive woes will not be as bad.
The Green Bay Packers offense is hoping to do better than the 2005 team. However, the loss today doesn’t give much confidence that they will be able to win many games. There are many winnable games on the schedule and there is a lot of season left. The offense needs to show more consistency if they are going to put up a lot of points.
