The Green Bay Packers were the opposite of improved in 2022. Going from 13-4 in 2021 to 8-9 in 2022 was certainly not the goal. Unfortunately, several position groups and individual players saw their performances drop off as part of the decline of the Packers last season. On offense, it took weeks for the offensive line to be fully healthy and then it took more time for the coaching staff to figure out who deserved the most snaps. Despite the second-half emergence of Christian Watson, the wide receivers room missed the production of Davante Adams. The tight ends? Well, there is a reason NFL analysts and draft “experts” have been able to convince so many that Green Bay will look to draft a tight end in the first round for the first time since 2000.
On defense, there were several more position groups and players that regressed in 2022. Safety, for one, is a monumental concern going into next season. Edge depth is also concerning as the team will be missing Rashan Gary for at least half the season. The defensive line, too, failed to consistently stop the run throughout the year. Perhaps that is why many will be surprised to know that the Packers’ most improved player, at least according to PFF, was a defensive lineman.
The Green Bay Packers Most Improved Player Was Jarran Reed

Jarran Reed signed with the Green Bay Packers as a free agent ahead of the 2022 season. He had played with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021 when he recorded 43 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two tackles for loss, and 12 quarterback hits. PFF gave Reed an overall grade of 54.5 for his 2021 season.
With the Packers, Reed recorded a career-high 52 total tackles. He matched his 2021 sack total with 2.5, but had more tackles for loss (five) and quarterback hits (14). For this production this past season, PFF gave him a 61.9 grade, an improvement of 7.4.
Now a free agent, it is unclear if Green Bay has any interest in bringing Reed back.
