It’s going to be a pivotal off-season for the Green Bay Packers. The Packers aim to achieve even greater things in 2024 after reaching the divisional round of the playoffs in 2023. Late in the season, Jordan Love and the Packers offense found their groove, propelling them into the playoffs.
However, that won’t stop the front office from adding to the offense if they find the right piece. That piece may have just been idenfied.
The Green Bay Packers May Add 6’4″ Monster Weapon For Jordan Love
Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report highlighted how this could happen:
Gutekunst hasn’t made a habit of chasing bit-name players in free agency, so we can expect the Packers to be more active in the second and third waves. Continuing to build depth in the defensive front seven should be a priority, as Green Bay’s run defense remains a weakness.
The Packers finished the regular season ranked 28th in rushing yards allowed and 23rd in yards per carry allowed.
Were the Packers to get aggressive, players like defensive tackle DaQuan Jones and linebacker Patrick Queen would become ideal free-agent targets. However, potential bargain free agents like defensive lineman Dorance Armstrong and linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. are far more realistic.
Safeties like Jeremy Chinn and Jordan Whitehead could land on Green Bay’s radar, depending on what happens with Savage and Owens. With Bakhtiari likely out, Green Bay may also seek tackle help.

Rasheed Walker was serviceable this past season but far from elite. He was responsible for nine penalties and six sacks allowed, according to Pro Football Focus.
Unfortunately, the 2024 tackle market is largely underwhelming.
The Packers aren’t strong candidates for a blockbuster trade, though if a top-tier player becomes available, Gutekunst might consider it. A player on an expiring contract, like cornerback Jonathan Jones or wide receiver Mike Williams, could heavily interest the Packers.
The Packers Could Benefit From A Receiver Like Mike Williams
After tearing his ACL against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3, Williams’ tenure with the Chargers is likely over.
Even though Williams is under contract for the 2024 season, it’s very likely the Chargers will cut ties with him. Last offseason’s contract restructures hinted at it, and Quentin Johnston’s selection in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft all but confirmed it.
Williams’ cap hit for the 2024 season is $32.4 million. Not only is that a large cap hit for someone coming off an ACL injury, but it is one of the largest in the league. However, the Chargers could free up $20 million by releasing Williams.
It is very likely the Packers could get the 29-year-old wide receiver relatively cheap this off-season. From 2018-2022 Williams averaged 15 games a season, 892 yards per season, and six touchdowns per year. 2017 and 2023 were much less productive due to being his rookie season and torn ACL (2023).
The veteran receiver may want to sign with a contender and revitalize his career. That is where Jordan Love and the Packers could come into play.
