It hasn’t even been a month since Malik Willis joined the Green Bay Packers following a trade from the Tennessee Titans. But in Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season, Willis will be put to the test – at Lambeau Field, no less – as the Packers’ starting quarterback.
With Jordan Love out with an injury, Willis is forced to learn as much as he can to prepare for the showdown against the Indianapolis Colts this coming Sunday.

The reality is I just got here, so it’s gonna be a little bit in overdrive, Willis said of studying the playbook and upcoming game plan. “It’s been pretty much around the clock since I got here. You try to come in and be ready to go if you’re called upon.”
Can Malik Willis pull off a stunning performance for the Green Bay Packers in Week 2 against the Colts?
Given the short time he’s been with the Packers and the fact that he only has three starts so far in his NFL career, Willis isn’t expected to put on a show against the Colts. But that is not to say that he’s not capable of surprising people and succeeding expectations with above-serviceable performance.
Before he was selected by the Titans in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft, Willis had a solid stretch in his final two years in college with the Liberty Flames. As a dual-threat QB for the Flames, Willis gathered 5,191 passing yards and 48 touchdowns against 18 interceptions while rushing for 1,822 yards and 27 touchdowns on 338 carries.
