Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love suffered a sprained MCL on Friday night against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil. Head coach Matt LaFleur is not closing the door on Love in starting in Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts, but it feels highly unlikely he will play.
Love will also not be placed on injured reserve. If Love is ruled out on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, Malik Willis will get the start and Sean Clifford will be elevated from the practice squad and be the backup quarterback.
Adam Schefter Of ESPN Thinks That Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Will Be Back By Week 4 Against the Minnesota Vikings
It doesn’t feel realistic for Jordan Love to play in Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts or in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans. They face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4. ESPN’s Adam Schefter went onto the Pat McAfee show on Monday to discuss when the star Green Bay Packers quarterback could return to play. Schefter said:
“I think it’s going to be less (than the estimated timeline of 3-6 weeks). I think it’s going to be closer to 3-4 weeks. It depends on how long it’s going to take him here, they’ll see how he recovers. He’s going to push to come back. If you look at the schedule, I think in three to four weeks they play the Vikings at home. Again, we’ll see how he recovers here, but that would be, I think, a logical timeline and a logical spot for him to try and come back.”
If Love was not back for the Green Bay Packers in Week 4, then maybe he could return for the Week 5 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. It will depend on how his recovery goes.
Green Bay Didn’t Reach Out To Any Quarterbacks
When the former Utah State Aggies quarterback went down with an injury, many thought that the Packers were going to reach out to free-agent quarterback Ryan Tannehill, but they never did. He played with the Tennessee Titans a season ago.
Green Bay not reaching out to anyone means that they have trust in Malik Willis until Love comes back. Joshua Dobbs, Jimmy Garoppolo, and some other names were floated around to replace Love for the time being, but the Packers think they can survive this way.
