The Packers just took down the undefeated Arizona Cardinals this Thursday, but it wasn’t pretty. Without their top three options at wide receiver, the offense wasn’t vertical. They couldn’t push the field like they usually do. So with the recent news of DeSean Jackson requesting a trade, it looks like the Packers might be a suitor.
Jackson has struggled to get on the field this year for Los Angeles. He hasn’t had more than one catch in a game since Week 3. With receivers like Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, and Van Jefferson, Jackson’s snaps have been sparse. So this week, both sides agreed on looking for a trade before the November 2nd deadline.
The #Rams and WR DeSean Jackson have mutually agreed to seek a trade partner, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. The 34-year-old can still run, averaging 27.6 yards per catch this year, including a 75-yard TD.

Jackson is sure to be worth something to a team in need. Even at 34, Jackson still has incredible speed. This year even, he has a 75-yard touchdown. The 3-time pro bowler also brings a veteran presence to any locker room. But will the Packers trade for Jackson?
The Packers did lose two big pieces against Arizona. The big-name lost was Robert Tonyan. In the third quarter, Tonyan tore his ACL on a big catch in the red zone. This leaves a big gap in the Packer’s offense, especially a vertical one. However, the Packers also lost their kick returner a few plays earlier.
Kylin Hill had an ugly injury on the kickoff where he also tore his ACL. The 7th rounder from this year has been returning kicks all year at a high rate. Now the Pack will need to find his replacement.
Jackson could fill both of these roles for the Packers, and the price for a trade wouldn’t be high. Fans on Twitter are already getting excited at the chances of Jackson being a Packer.
Normally, I'd say probably not but we do need a Kick Returner. https://t.co/lVPJF0ZYSN

DeSean Jackson is already a #Packers MVP, so this just makes sense. https://t.co/FWOJt5gXP5 https://t.co/AGc5WtOZmk

The chances though of Jackson being traded to the Packers seems low. GM Brian Gutekunst has yet to do a “trade deadline trade” and has already been picking up players throughout the season (Jaylon Smith, Rasul Douglas). This also gives the Packers a chance to give Amari Rodgers more touches. The third-round pick this year has been returning punts and is the motion guy on offense. He was utilized a lot in the Arizona game, and that probably won’t change.
But what do you think? Should the Packers go after a DeSean Jackson trade?
