The Green Bay Packers have a ton of optimism surrounding their team as the 2023 season enters Week Three. The team has seemingly played seven solid quarters of football to start the year. The Packers trounced the Bears 38-20 in Week One, and had a 24-12 lead over the Atlanta Falcons in Week Two heading into the fourth quarter. However, 13 unanswered points by the Falcons cost the Packers the game in Atlanta.
The Packers young and talented wide receiving corps has the chance to be a real powerhouse in the league once they gel with Jordan Love. Injuries, however, have hampered the team’s position group early on in 2023. Most notably Christian Watson missing the first two games of the season due to a lingering hamstring injury.
The Green Bay Packers Land Wide Receiver Hunter Renfrow From The Las Vegas Raiders In Bold Trade Proposal

Matthew Schmidt of NFL Analysis Network highlighted a scenario where the Packers land the pro-bowl wide receiver:
If there is one thing the Green Bay Packers really need, it is experience at the wide receiver position.
Wide out is an area the Packers have struggled to maintain for years now. Even when Davante Adams was in town, Green Bay consistently failed to put reliable pass-catchers alongside of him.
Well, Adams has been in Las Vegas for two years now, and the Packers have yet to find anything that even resembles an adequate replacement.
To be fair, Green Bay has assembled a group of young receivers that could be impressive down the line, but as of right now, there is no real proven talent for young quarterback Jordan Love to utilize.
The good news is that the Packers have plenty of time between now and the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline to address this issue, and there could be several potential trade targets available for them.
One such target could be Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Hunter Renfrow.
Renfrow, who played his collegiate football at Clemson, was originally selected by the Raiders in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
He had a couple of solid seasons to start his career, registering over 600 yards in each of his first two NFL campaigns. Then, in 2021, Renfrow broke out, hauling in 103 receptions for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.
Unfortunately, Renfrow dealt with injuries last season, which severely hindered his performance as he recorded a mere 330 yards. Now, in 2023, Renfrow has become a forgotten man in Las Vegas’ offense.
The Packers could certainly use him, however, and could send a couple of 2024 draft picks—a fourth rounder and a sixth—to the Raiders in exchange for his services.
Hunter Renfrow would provide Love with a pair of sure hands and would open up the rest of Green Bay’s passing game overall.

Renfrow was interviewed after the Raiders loss to the Bills. Specifically he was asked about his role with the team, this is what he had to say:
“I’m not sure,” he said softly. “I’m just trying to do my job, to be honest. Yeah. And then just trying to have a good week of practice, and then, hopefully, the ball finds me on Sundays. That’s all I can do.”
“It’s frustrating when we’re not doing what we need to do as an offense, you know, and I feel like I can help some,” he said. “But the frustrating part is not moving the ball down the field like we’re capable of doing.”
Above, Matthew suggests the Packers’ trade for Hunter Renfrow would look like this:
Green Bay Packers Receive:
- Wide Receiver Hunter Renfrow
Las Vegas Raiders Receive:
- 2024 Fourth Round Draft Pick
- 2024 Sixth Round Draft Pick
The Raiders selected Renfrow in the fifth round of the 2019 draft. In 2021, he was the first Raiders receiver to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in a season since 2016 and the third player to catch 100-plus passes in a single season in franchise history. He also became just the second wide receiver in Raiders history to record both 100-plus receptions and 1,000-plus receiving yards in a single season.
However, Renfrow was limited to 10 games in 2022 due to injuries. In total, he caught 36 passes for 330 yards and two touchdowns. As a veteran coming off a subpar season, this could be the ultimate “buy low” scenario for the Green Bay Packers.
