Green Bay Packers: Kenny Clark Announces Major Change Ahead Of Chicago Bears Matchup

The Green Bay Packers take on the Chicago Bears in less than one week.  It will be the 206th all-time meeting between the two legendary franchises.  For the Packers, it is the start of a new era with Jordan Love under center.  Love was certainly impressive during this year’s pre-season, however, it will be a “wait and see” approach if that success continues to the regular season.

Either way, it is safe to assume that the Packers’ offense may rely on their defense at times throughout the season as their core is one of the youngest in the league.  That is where Kenny Clark and this enormous amount of talent around him come into play.  In fact, Clark said there would be a change on defense going up against the Bears.

Green Bay Packers Kenny Clark Says Things Will Be A Little Different When They Line Up Against The Chicago Bears

    According to NFL Talk:

    Packers’ DT Kenny Clark:

“We got a different plan. You’ll see on Sunday as far as the plan. As far as the techniques and everything, how we playing defense, we’re just being more aggressive. Going to move a little bit.

You got guys like myself, TJ, D-Wy that’s can play stout and get off of blocks. That’s all we got to do. Get off blocks at the end of the day. Stop the run and plug gaps.”

There is a lot of youth on the Packers’ defensive line, but they still have a lot of potential to help the team in a major way this season. Devonte Wyatt is one of those reasons. He finished 2022 strong and looks to have a breakout year in 2023.

Pro Football Reference reports Wyatt recorded five tackles, three quarterback hits, and 1.5 sacks over Green Bay’s final four games of 2022.

With the abundance of talent on the defensive line, one “change” could be seeing pressure up the middle of the pocket.  This could happen via defensive tackle rotations along with pure talent.  It could also indicate the Packers are going to use the defensive line to open up blitz lanes for the rest of the secondary.

Either way you have to feel excited that Clark is not only ready for week one, but that he is optimistic they can be effective.
