Fifth-round draft pick Sean Clifford is fighting for a roster spot on the Green Bay Packers depth chart. He reportedly made some flashy moves at the end of Tuesday’s practice during OTAs. Packers fans reacted to reports that Clifford finished the day on a much higher note than projected starting quarterback Jordan Love.
According to Rob Demovsky with ESPN, Clifford led an impressive two-minute drill. He finished the drill by throwing an eight-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Cotton.
Demovsky reported that Love, who had a solid start to Tuesday, struggled during the drill. Love broke a rule that quarterbacks coach Tom Clements has made about throwing late in the middle of the field. Love decided to roll off to his right side and threw a near 30-yard “duck” that safety Tarvarius Moore picked off right near the end zone.
During his post-practice press conference, head coach Matt LaFleur said that the interception was a “great learning experience” for Love. LaFleur defended his fourth-year quarterback, saying that Love was asked to be more aggressive in the drill, as the situation didn’t allow Love to use a timeout.
Green Bay Packers fans on Sean Clifford and Love’s performance
Here are the best fan takes after Clifford’s and Love’s two-minute drill reports came out Tuesday.
If Sean Clifford can do just one thing extremely well, it’s running a 2 minute drill. Penn State is very very elite at getting down the field fast. https://t.co/suSoU7bzsi

Almost like that’s exactly what we saw of him the last time he played a full season of football – turnover prone

He has been learning for four years. Time to tank for Caleb Williams

Only after game 6, when Green Bay is 1-5 and Love has thrown 4 TDsxans 11 INTs, will LaFleur be willing to relieve Love and let Gooty and Murphy look like the Bobsy Twins theyve in fact have always been.
Believe me now or believe me later.
