Although the Green Bay Packers were eliminated by the San Francisco 49ers last Saturday night, Jordan Love is still on the receiving end of hot takes when it comes to his performance in that game.
During that match, the Packers were in control for almost the entirety of the game. It wasn’t until the final minutes when Love made a crucial mistake by throwing a wild pass that was intercepted. Paired with Anders Carlson’s missed kick, and the 49ers went home with the win that night.
Appearing on the All Facts No Brakes podcast, Richard Sherman doubled down on his take involving Love’s poor late-game performance in his bid to defend Brock Purdy, who also didn’t have the best of games,
“If you watched [Packers quarterback] Jordan Love and you watched that game — Jordan Love is an incredible talent — he played worse down the stretch when they needed it. He played worse, that’s why his team lost. So you’re saying he’s a more talented quarterback? That’s you hiding behind rhetoric or hiding behind words because you can’t statistically back up what you’re saying,” Sherman said.
He also laid out a challenge to show the stats of both Love and Purdy and said that if the former threw out interceptions like the 49ers’ quarterback did, the Packers would have won.
Green Bay Packers’ Jordan Love Commitment For Next Season
For his part, Love is aware of the mistakes he made during the Packers’ brutal loss to the 49ers. Even head coach Matt LaFleur gave his assessment of the quarterback’s performance this season.
Their playoff exit last Saturday night has prompted Love to improve his game in the offseason. Even with a lot of opinions trolling the Packers’ star, he remains steadfast in elevating his skills on the field to raise Green Bay’s ceiling when the next season starts. But until then, the franchise will have to look for ways to improve the roster in the coming months to better surround Love with more talent.
