The Green Bay Packers got some unfortunate news on Wednesday. One of their front office personnel secured a job with an NFC rival.
The Green Bay Packers Lose Front Office Personnel To The Seattle Seahawks
According to the Seattle Seahawks:
The Seahawks have named Joey Laine the team’s new vice president of football administration.
Laine, who most recently served as the salary cap analyst for the Green Bay Packers, brings nearly two decades of NFL front office experience to Seattle. Laine replaces Matt Thomas, who has left the organization after 11 seasons in Seattle.
Prior to joining the Packers, Laine spent seven seasons as the Bears’ director of football administration, working as Chicago’s chief contract negotiator while also overseeing the overall health of the team’s salary cap and strategic planning, and while ensuring CBA compliance.
A graduate of the University of New Orleans, Laine earned his MBA from Tulane before beginning his career in the NFL as a football operations intern in 2005. Laine’s 10 seasons with the Saints included six seasons as the team’s salary cap analyst.
According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky:
Laine and Chad Brinker both worked under Packers VP/director of football operations/salary cap guru Russ Ball and have now gone on to prominent jobs with other teams. Brinker is the Titans president of football operations.
It will certainly be a position to fill for the Packers to assist Russ Ball in the Salary Cap situation.
