Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed has his Week 18 status in doubt against the Chicago Bears, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. He left the game during the 33-10 win on the road against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night football.
Reed was dealing with a ribs injury and his x-rays were negative and also remains pretty “sore”, according to sources who told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Jayden Reed has been a big part of the Packers offense this season. During Sunday’s win against Minnesota, he caught six passes for 89 yards receiving and two touchdowns, along with being targeted eight times and averaging 14.8 yards per catch.
On the year, Reed has caught 60 passes for 681 yards and eight touchdowns. He has been targeted 90 times by quarterback Jordan Love and also has averaged 11.4 yards per catch. Reed has also received 11 carries for 119 yards rushing and two touchdowns, along with averaging 10.8 yards per rush.
If he was sidelined for Sunday’s contest against the Chicago Bears, that would be a huge blow to this offense. They are already shorthanded at the wide receiver position. Christian Watson has not played in several weeks because of a hamstring injury and Dontayvion Wicks also missed last week’s game due to injury.
Wednesday and Thursday Injury Report Will Be Key This Week for the Green Bay Packers and Jayden Reed
Green Bay does not practice on Tuesday, so Wednesday will be the earliest to know what the deal with Reed and the rest of the Packers’ injuries is. The wide receiver position has been banged up all season long. They recently placed Sami Toure on injured reserve and signed Bo Melton to the 53-man roster.
Melton, Malik Heath, and Romeo Doubs appear to be the only healthy wide receivers on the Packers roster at the current moment. Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks, and Reed will be the players on the injury report that everyone will keep an eye on as the week progresses.
Reed has been dealing with and playing through injuries all season, but this could be the one that keeps him sidelined. Packers fans hope they can have him in a win-and-in situation in Week 18.
